Beach time !

Sunglasses, flip-flops, mini skirts and shorts everywhere.. Summertime is finally settling down ! And I badly want to go to the beach, even though I don't have my '10 swimsuit yet. By the way, here are some I dig and that are related to the subject of this page.

Alexander McQueen

I heard that animal-printed clothes were one of the hot trends of this year. I am not really fond of them because it tends to give some very extravagant looks. I do agree that adding some little animal prints can provide some more fierceness. But anyhoo !
During its Spring '10 Collection, the late Alexander McQueen presented this corseted-snake-printed dress made of silk and organza, that I find really cute.

Asos

Asos is a British online clothing store for men, women and kids. Early in this year, they launched Asos Africa, a line for women, featuring african prints. The items of this collection are all made in Kenya, in a workshop named SOKO, involving the brand in the consequent world of fair trade. They aim to create some sustainable employment and give Kenyan people the opportunity to show their dress-making skills.
Good initiative !

Louis Vuitton goes tribal

Last year, Marc Jacobs presented a very tribal inspired collection for Louis V's Spring collection, including the extra HOT Spicy Sandals that recall tribal masks and costumes. They have been spotted on Beyonce, Amber Rose, Alexa Chung, Mischa Barton or Victoria Beckham. Just love 'em !

Vlisco

Vlisco is a dutch designing and manufacturing company that creates wax cloth, the most common cloth women use to make traditional garments in the continent. The brand has its boutiques located in The Netherlands but also in 4 big African cities: Cotonou, Abidjan, Kinshasa and Calabar.

I precise that Vlisco only sells the cloth. The designs shown are just illustrative. Yet so breathtaking, I know!

Kevan Hall - Adopted by Kimora

I first saw this dress while watching Kimora's reality show. She wore it at the 2008 Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I'm still amazed by it. It was designed by Kevan Hall, for his Spring '08 afro-flavoured collection. Me likey !

Vogue Africa - Not just a dream

Is my dream becoming a reality?? Well, Mario Epanya, awesome photographer based in Paris, FR is building its shape by imagining covers for the fictitious magazine. I was sooo excited when I saw the flicks but a bit sad that I had no way to participate in that project!
These are really stunning covers, showing that hey, it's possible! And he keeps making imaginary covers! Stay tuned on his blog: marioepanyaphotography.blogspot.com .
Yaaay !

Model Time !

Fashion amateurs know that when comes December, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show ain't that far. So, I was watchin the last edition when this girl showed up. I said 'you got Senegal written all over your head!', and indeed the girl named Aminata Niaria is Senegalese born. As usual, when we people hear that a model or a singer or a stylist is senegalese, our pride gets bigger!
